We rise by lifting others …………..Robert Ingersoll
Today I stopped by at a Shawarma takeaway joint after work to pick up a quick dinner. There was a long line, and the lady assembling the shawermas was quite slow. People were getting agitated – so was I. On top of that my little one wanted to go to the bathroom.
In that moment I really wanted to let her know in a very kind and gentle way that she needed to pick up the pace. As I waited for the line to inch forward I could see that she was struggling to remember what people had ordered. So much so, that the two chicken shawarmas I ordered turned into one chicken and one beef shawarma when I got home.
When it was time for me to place my order I refrained from saying anything (in true Canadian fashion). Now that I think about it, I absolutely did the right thing. The girl was young but her lack of attention was mainly due to how preoccupied she was. In her head she must have been going through a million things – things that she was not able to talk about. May be she was embarrassed to talk about them, may be she could not find any strength to talk about them, may be she was looking for a shoulder to cry on and could not find it – there could be so many things. And my saying something even in the politest manner could have become devastating for her (her supervisor was close by too).
I am so glad and filled with gratitude that I kept my big mouth shut. A delay of 20 minutes did not create a great disturbance in my life, but had I said something it could have caused a major disturbance in her life. Once again “the Canadian way” has won. I have learnt a new lesson in patience and I will keep it close to my heart – always!
Your New Mom BFF!!! I am a regular mom but I choose to live my life to the fullest in high heels and fiery red lipstick. I want to share everything I have learnt (and I have learnt a lot) about skin, beauty, food, health and LIFE – Lets just say I know what's the secret to glowing skin and how your night cream can get you there - and how you can get a flat tummy after 3 kids from my years of working on top brands as a marketing manager. Hope to see more of you!
